How to use Unmix Colors

Unmix Colors turns a HEX color into an RYB paint recipe — a guide for which pigments to combine to approximate that color. It is the reverse of Color Mixing.

Sign in, then open Virtual Artist Lab → Unmix Colors.

How to use it

  1. Choose a color with the picker or enter a HEX value.
  2. Optionally set a paint volume and unit.
  3. Click Unmix color to see the recipe and color details.
  4. Expand the mixing guide or similar colors when you want extra reference.

Tips

  • Results are artist-theory approximations. Real paint tubes and lighting can differ.
  • Volume scaling is proportional and meant as a starting point.
  • To sample a color from a photo, use Color Picker instead.
  • To save a color permanently, copy the HEX into My Palettes.

Unmix Colors is free and does not use credits.
