How to use Unmix Colors
Unmix Colors turns a HEX color into an RYB paint recipe — a guide for which pigments to combine to approximate that color. It is the reverse of Color Mixing.
Sign in, then open Virtual Artist Lab → Unmix Colors.
How to use it
- Choose a color with the picker or enter a HEX value.
- Optionally set a paint volume and unit.
- Click Unmix color to see the recipe and color details.
- Expand the mixing guide or similar colors when you want extra reference.
Tips
- Results are artist-theory approximations. Real paint tubes and lighting can differ.
- Volume scaling is proportional and meant as a starting point.
- To sample a color from a photo, use Color Picker instead.
- To save a color permanently, copy the HEX into My Palettes.
Unmix Colors is free and does not use credits.
