How to use the Color Simplifier
Color Simplifier reduces an image to a limited number of flat colors. It is useful as a painting reference, posterized study, or prep step before coloring or paint-by-numbers style work.
Sign in, then open Virtual Artist Lab → Color Simplifier.
How to simplify an image
- Upload a JPG, PNG, or WEBP image.
- Set Number of Colors, Detail Filter, and Smoothing.
- Inspect the preview. Zoom and pan if you need a closer look.
- Optionally show a grid overlay.
- Download or print when you like the result.
Tips
- Fewer colors and higher smoothing create simpler shapes.
- Raise Detail Filter to remove tiny speckles.
- The grid is for reference and is included in download/print when enabled.
Color Simplifier is free for signed-in users and does not use credits.
